According to the Ports of Fremantle News, “Container Trade was up 6.6 percent for the first six months of the fiscal year.”

“With the WA economy beginning to pick up, there has been a related positive trend in Fremantle Ports’ container trade.
The overall growth in containers handled in the first six months of the fiscal year was 6.6 per cent compared with the same period the previous year.
There was a 7.3 per cent increase in container imports and 5.9 per cent increase in exports.
Growing business and consumer confidence saw full container imports up by 7.8 per cent and, with a significant increase in shipments of containerised hay, full container exports were up by 12.2 per cent.
Trade in new motor vehicle imports is also doing well, gaining 8.5 per cent for the period.”
