DP World has purchased the five cranes for its Australian container terminals and one will be unloaded in Fremantle.

The ship is scheduled to depart at 5 pm on Tuesday 25 September. (Check Shipping Movements for the latest information.)

The other cranes will go to DP World terminals at Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney (two cranes) via around the top of Australia to avoid strong winds in the south.

Each crane is worth $15 million (total cost of five cranes is $75m).

Each crane stands 50 metres high, weighs 1200 tonnes and can lift 75 tonnes, servicing the largest vessels that currently call Australia.

Information from DP World:

This crane will enable DP World Fremantle to service extra-large vessels carrying 10,000+ containers of goods. These new cranes mean every DP World Australia terminal will be able to work more efficiently and with larger vessels, which will boost productivity, benefitting consumers and exporters. The new cranes are part of more than $180 million in infrastructure investment by DPWA across the nation, in the past 12 months.”
