April’s container trade volumes at Freo up on last year!

PORT of Fremantle saw a slight decrease in containerised trade crossing its wharf in April, according to the latest available trade statistics from the Port.

April’s containerised throughput was 59,102 TEU, showing a decrease of 5% on the previous month. Exports and imports were split 49% and 51%, respectively.

April 2018’s total throughput showed an increase of 2% on the same month last year.

Total coastal trade through Fremantle in April was 7826 TEU (or 13% of the total), and overseas trade accounted for the remaining 51,276 TEU.

Looking closer at the coastal trade through Fremantle, we find the lion’s share was imported into Fremantle (6956 TEU), while just 870 TEU were exported from Fremantle to destinations in Australia.
